The Asia-Pacific region is regarded as the most prone to natural disasters in the world, and the impact of meteorological disasters has intensified in recent years due to the urbanization and climate change.
Without any exception, the area around Tsukuba City where Tsukuba Conference 2019 is held was violently struck by various meteorological disasters including tornado in 2012 and Joso flood in 2015.
In this session, with the aim of realizing the SDGs, Society 5.0 and the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030, researchers and practitioners on disaster management in Japan and the Asia-Pacific countries will share the cases and approaches as well as latest research achievements to have a panel discussion how to overcome the issues viewed from the scene with science and technology on disaster resilience.

アジア・太平洋地域は世界で最も自然災害が起こりやすい地域と言われており、都市化や気候変動により、気象災害による影響が近年激甚化しています。また、筑波会議が行われるつくば市周辺でも2012年竜巻被害や2015年常総水害など様々な気象災害に見舞われています。このセッションでは、SDGsやSociety 5.0、仙台防災枠組の実現を見据え、日本を含めたアジア・太平洋地域の国々における災害対応の実務担当者および研究者に登壇いただき、各国での事例や取り組み、最新の研究成果を紹介いただくとともに、パネルディスカッションを通じて、現場から見えてくる課題を防災科学技術でどのように克服していくのかを議論していきます。
