Design and decision making on future society by the current generation will affect life and lifestyle of future generations. Examples include urban design, energy system, and finance and pension system. It is our obligation to design future society with multiple viewpoints, divergent values, and accumulated scientific knowledge as possible as we can take. But contrary to the other decision making process, the next generations cannot participate its design and decision. The aims of this session are to discuss critically and constructively possibility and responsibility, validity and legitimacy, and theory and methods of future society design, to reflect the concept and intellectual basis of future society design, and to envision science of future society design we still do not see. We welcome participants from a variety of disciplines from natural sciences and engineering, social sciences, arts and humanities.

都市計画やエネルギーシステム、年金や財政等、現代世代の行動のみならず、未来来社会についての我々のデザインや意思決定が、将来世代の暮らしや生き方に大きな影響を与える課題は多くあります。多様な視点や価値観、これまでに蓄積された学術的な叡智を可能な限り考慮し、未来社会像をデザインすることは、現代を生きる我々の責務であると考えられます。しかし、その他の多くの意思決定と異なり、未来社会デザインの過程において、将来世代はデザインにも意思決定にも関与できません。本セッションでは、自然科学・工学、人文・社会学等の様々な分野の研究者が参画し、未来社会をデザインすることの可能性と責任、正当性と正統性、理論や方法論について批判的・建設的な議論を行い、未来社会のデザインという概念やその学術的基盤を問い直し、まだ見ぬ未来社会デザインのデザイン学の姿について構想することを目的に実施します。
