The year 2022-23 is the International Year of Basic Sciences for Sustainable Development (IYBSSD) designated by the United Nations. Domestic and international discussions are actively underway on the role of basic sciences in contributing to the development of a sustainable society. In this session, Professor Marian Asantewah Nkansah of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, (KNUST), Ghana, the member of IYBSSD Executive Board, will introduce the activities of the IYBSSD and discuss on “necessity of dialogue between north and south” from the viewpoint of her expertise in environmental chemistry.

2022-23年は国連が定める「持続可能な発展のための国際基礎科学年（IYBSSD）」であり、基礎科学が持続可能な社会の発展に資する役割について、国内外で活発な議論が行われている。本セッションでは、IYBSSDの理事会のメンバーの一人であるクワメ　エンクルマ科学技術大学のMarian Asantewah Nkansah准教授を講師にお迎えし、IYBSSDのこれまでの活動を紹介するとともに、氏の専門である環境化学の観点から、「南北対話の重要性」をテーマとしてセッションを行う。
